First Thursday at Frequency Wine An event to benefit Latinx Arts Project/Carpinteria

  • Frequency Wine Company 804 Anacapa Street Santa Barbara, CA, 93101 United States (map)

Santa Barbara’s Frequency Wine Co. will host a Downtown Santa Barbara First Thursday Art Walk on their historic “Presidio Patio” at 804 Anacapa Street (next door to Santa Barbara’s Main Post Office). The 5-8 pm outdoor and indoor evening of celebration to benefit the Latinx Arts Project/Carpinteria and introduce LAP’s inaugural board members to the arts community at large.

The board will also announce a “call for mural design submissions” from artists in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. A $2500 cash honorarium prize will be awarded in the future for the winning mural design.

Patrons can buy wines by the glass, including the newly released, highly anticipated 2021 GSM, or share a bottle with friends, relax to live music and enjoy tasty bites while supporting LAP/Carpinteria with 10% of all sales being donated to the non-profit.

The Latinx Arts Project/Carpinteria was founded this year to create murals in Carpinteria that honor and celebrate Hispanic contributions to the community. Their first mural will also incorporate a darker side of local history – the segregation of Aliso School for “Mexicans Only” which ended in 1947.

The group’s 15-minute documentary, by Santa Barbara filmmaker Brent Winebrenner, that exposes this issue – “Voces de Old Town Carpinteria” will be shown outdoors as well after sunset.

Frequency Wines was born in the belief that “positive energy can be created, bottled, and shared throughout the world to be sown and harvested for a vast influence”.
